Storyteller

in Residence

Storytelling can raise awareness and inspire action, which is why we created our Storyteller in Residence (SiR) initiative, in partnership with Oceanographic Magazine and Arksen.

Every year, we select a talented photographer and/or storyteller and connect them with our incredible network of marine conservation, helping to amplify the voices of the ocean and the communities that depend on it.

Henley Spiers

His passion for the underwater world was developed as a dive instructor, after which he transitioned into full-time photojournalism. In his year as SiR, he shared stories of community-led Marine Protected Areas in Scotland; showcased the plight of sea lions in Baja California; and documented research efforts to track humpback whale movements in Mexico. His stories bring the underwater world to life, highlighting its wonders and the vital need to protect it.
