Below the Blue

at Rome Pigneto Film Festival

In June 2024, 10% for the ocean proudly collaborated with the Rome Pigneto Film Festival to highlight ocean conservation through the medium of a photographic exhibition. This unique partnership brought to the community in Rome a selection of the best photos of Henley Spiers during his Storyteller in Residence programme to raise awareness and inspire action for our oceans. The photographer presented his work during the festival and met with the public to answer questions and transmit his passion.

"The Pigneto Film Festival offered us the chance to pick out some of the most outstanding imagery from the SiR expeditions. To see them printed in large-scale was like experiencing them again for the first time. What was most rewarding was the ocean prints being viewed and appreciated by an audience which isn't usually exposed to the underwater world."

Henley Spiers, Ocean Photographer

“Our collaboration with 10% for the ocean on the 2024 edition of the Pigneto Film Festival has been a remarkable journey. At the Festival, we believe in the power of visual storytelling to educate and inspire action for our environment. Since its inception, the festival has dedicated a special section to documentaries and films addressing topics such as climate change, biodiversity protection, and the importance of renewable energy. Additionally, the festival organises debates, workshops, and meetings with industry experts to delve deeper into environmental issues and promote a culture of sustainability among participants. The 'Beyond the Blue' exhibition not only showcased the stunning beauty and diversity of marine life but also emphasised the urgent need for conservation."
